Bureau of Labor Statistics: Injury and Illness Rates Dropped Again in 2013. Washington – The rate of work-related injuries and illnesses in private industry declined in 2013, continuing a nearly unbroken downward trend spanning more than a decade, according to the latest estimates from the Bureau of Labor Statistics. Released Dec. 4, results from the BLS annual Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses show a rate of 3.3 injuries and illnesses per 100 full-time workers in 2013, down from 3.4 in 2012.
