This year's keynote speaker is Adele Abrams. Opening the event will be Mark J. Lindquist.
Adele L. Abrams is an attorney, Certified Mine Safety Professional and trained mediator who is president of the Law Office of Adele L. Abrams P.C. in Beltsville, MD, Denver, CO, and Charleston, WV. The firm represents employers in OSHA and MSHA litigation nationwide. Adele also provides consultation, safety audits and training services to regulated companies. She is an adjunct faculty member at the Catholic University of America.
She is a member of the Maryland, DC and PA Bars; the U.S. District Courts of Maryland, DC, and TN; the U.S. Court of Appeals, DC Circuit 3rd Circuit, and 4th Circuit; and the United States Supreme Court. She is a graduate of the George Washington University’s National Law Center, and earned her B.S. in Journalism from the University of Maryland, College Park.
She is an active member of the American Society of Safety Engineers’ construction, mining and consulting practice specialties, and in 2000, 2008, 2011 and 2012, Adele received Safety Professional of the Year awards from ASSE. She is also chair of the National Safety Council’s Committee on Regulatory, Standards and Legal Affairs and is on the board of the Chesapeake Region Safety Council. She is co-author of the textbooks, the Safety Professional’s Handbook, and Construction Safety Management and Engineering.
Mark J. Lindquist is a former certified American Red Cross Disaster Action Team member who provided emergency services at Ground Zero, at the Pentagon, and on multiple major natural disasters nationwide. Mark also has experience as a Department of Homeland Security consultant who has worked on major metropolitan inter-agency communication disaster exercises with participation from over 13 state, local and national agencies.
